Dr. Marie Dupont and Ann Marie Pocklembo, both New Jersey teachers, allege that the New Jersey Education Association breached its membership contract and violated conflict of interest policies by sending more than $40 million of members’ dues to a Super PAC that supported the gubernatorial campaign of then-NJEA president Sean Spiller.

Local Firefighters’ Union Establishes Independence from Statewide Union

New Haven, Connecticut’s firefighters’ union, Local 825, believed its statewide affiliate union was working against the local’s interests. So, in 2016, the local union’s board voted to leave the statewide union. But state union officials refused to let them leave and demanded more than $50,000 in “back dues” payments.
